Abstract

Structural and functional impairments in motor function have huge impact on patient’s quality of life. This is serious health and social problem. During holistic treatment of patients the physical therapy is substantial method. Literature data indicates that concerning typical motor impairments, laser biostimulation and low energy polarized light (VIP) are most popular methods. This treatment is easy to apply, noninvasive and safe for patient. The purpose of this paper is review of current literature (Medline-EBSCO) concerning the use of low level laser therapy and VIP – light therapy in organ of movement diseases treatment. The other purpose is explaining the cellular and systemic effectiveness and also rules of application. Analyzing clinical reviews it’s obvious, that phototherapy is non-pharmacological and effective type of treatment. The other conclusion is that very often phototherapy is the only method to use while other physical agents are contraindicated or ineffective. Low level laser therapy and VIP light can be also used in compilation with other physical factors, what sometimes gives better treatment result. A lot of articles confirm purposefulness of phototherapy in physical therapy but still there is very few clinical trial reviews. Also noticeable is lack of clear method of using and dosing phototherapy procedures.
