Abstract

The paper presents characteristics of the developmental trend in population of the Rzeszow children in age group 7 to 14 years. It contains a comparison of the mean values such basic anthropometric traits as: height, body mass and chest circumference. The analysis of results has proved the occurrence of acceleration of these traits during last 27 years in children of both sexes. It was observed that in period of 1988/89–2003/04 intensification of secular changes was a smaller one than in 1976/77 and 1988 /89 year. Chest circumference increases generally in all boys and girls examined in 1988/89 years in comparison to their peers from period 1976/77. A 7,5-year-old girls constitute an exception. In the period of 1988/89 to 2003/2004 above mentioned trait shows a growing tendency in girls in all age categories and in boys between 7,5 to 10,5 only. In age of 11,5 and 12,5 years the chest circumference attains an approximate values, and between 13,5 to 14,5 years a deceleration in development of this trait was observed.
