Abstract

Introduction. Mucoviscidosis is the most common human genetic disease (on average I in 2500 living births). What should be blamed for the disease is the mutation of a gene responsible for the synthesis of cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator. In the thesis there have been discussed the results
of the research assessing the effectiveness of rehabilitation methods applied to children with mucoviscidosis.

The aim. The aim of the thesis is to assess the effectiveness of respiratory tracts cleaning in case of children with mucoviscidosis.

The material and the method. The research included three homogeneous groups of men and women between I to 32 years of age. The research group included patients of Pulmonary Disease Clinics in Podkarpackie Province. The assessed methods were: Classic drainage, autogenic drainage, rehabilitation by
‘means of Flatter type device. In the research process, spirometric measures were conducted and personal questionnaires were fulfiled.

The results. The main respiratory system ailments were: cough, dyspnoea, sibilant breath, chronic pneumonia and bronchitis. The most commonly applied method was classic drainage. The effectiveness of treating process was closely related to its regularity and proper rehabilitation.

Conclusion The most important part of the rehabilitation process of people with mucoviscidosis is ‘well-matched treating method which should be chosen according to the needs of an individual patient.
